Conference Highlights

Day One Band Management - the issue of Band Administrators Certification was the topic of the first day.  Traditionally, a Band Manager role was generally geared towards managing INAC matters with the Band Council leadership.  The delegates heard from the National Centre for First Nations Goverernance, Jim Pealow Consulting and AFOA Canada followed by an afternoon of open space technology lead by Chris Robertson.  Insight to the speakers and the delegates comments will be summarized into a report and action plan through follow meetings by the speaking parties. Day two and three- Economic Development

First Nation Economic Development Environment was addressed by First Nation Economic Development Officer, First Nation Councilor and INAC Economic Development Speacialist.

Symposium of the Future of First Nations Economic Development in BC - The FN Leadership Council is working with the federal and provincial governments to develop a framework for a province-wide BC. First Nations Economic Development Strategy. Representatives on the the Working Group has been formed to oversee the development of a First Nation economic strategy will outline the work done to date on this important subject.
