AFOA Canada offers two professional designations to meet the needs of Aboriginal communities across Canada.  For more information on these programs, click on one of the links below.

Certified Aboriginal Financial Management (CAFM)

  • A CAFM is a Certified Aboriginal Financial Management professional whose skills and knowledge are based and tested against professional standards:
    1) Competency Standards;
    2) Standards of Ethical Conduct; and
    3) Certification Standards.
  • A CAFM is an outstanding financial manager who provides leadership and valuable advice on financial and management operations.
  • A CAFM sets the standard for his/her profession – they raise the bar in professionalism.
  • A CAFM forms the backbone of Aboriginal government administration
  • CAFMs are key decision-makers and leaders in their organizations/communities.

Certified Aboriginal Professional Administrator (CAPA)

The purpose of CAPA is to enhance the knowledge and professional development of senior and aspiring administrators/managers working in Aboriginal communities and organizations through professional training and a national certification process. The CAPA program will provide new networking opportunities, new environments for learning and access to best practices for working with Aboriginal communities and organizations at all levels.
